About Always Strong Fitness

Who Are We?

Always Strong Fitness was founded May 27th 2014 on the principle that Body Composition and not BMI(Body Mass Index) is the most important factor to consider when pursuing optimal wellness. We advocate for and develop programs for our clients to become Strong in every sense of the word. Focusing on becoming stronger and adding muscle mass results in our clients improving their health, flexibility, cardiovascular performance and overall athleticism. Since adding muscle mass does not in itself lower the number on a scale we do not focus on weight loss, but as mentioned above improved Body Composition in the way of more muscle and less body fat.

SEAN PERSON

NASM CPT FNS WLS ISCA Master Trainer
Sean Person brings over 15 years of experience in which he has performed tens of thousands of personal training sessions. As a trainer he focuses on customizing individual fitness and training programs for in person clients in the Boston area as well as virtual programs and sessions throughout the country. His fitness philosophy revolves around building programs that develop optimal strength levels to perform well in any activity. He is the founder of Always Strong Fitness which was built around that ideal and focuses primarily on body composition improvements in his clients as opposed to "weight loss".

VINCE BROWN

Co-Founder ASF
Vince Brown, native of North Carolina and graduate of Berklee College, has been a influential fitness professional in the Greater Boston Area for the past 12 years. Accumulating 25 years of experience in Martial Arts (Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan Karate, and Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu), shows through his training style. Teaching and Instructing is what guided him to personal training, the results and focuses that his clients attain continue to stimulate his passion for health and fitness.

ROSS HARDAWAY

BS Exercise Science and Kinesiology
A Graduate of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, has a BS in Exercise Science with a concentration in coaching and minor in Sports Management. His certifications include ISCA CPT, NASM MMACS, NASM BCS, and ISCA KICKBOXING. From the age of 6, Ross was involved in martial arts that included Tae Kwon Do, Kempo, Goju Ryu, and Ju-jitsu. Martial arts helped Ross find his passion for teaching and educating in a fitness and wellness setting. Working with numerous clients over the past six years, developing new habits and setting attainable goals are two of his favorite parts about meeting new clients. Known for having a “foodie” outlook of dining and appreciating his Italian heritage with home-style cooking with a healthy twist. Along with preparing food, reading about sustainable food and its development through the years. Rounding out his hobbies: Ross enjoys training and conditioning student athletes at MIT, along with traveling to Maine to “unplug”.

MEL SCHENCK

AFAA and ISCA CPT
Mel has over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry as an AFFA and ISCA Certified Personal Trainer and small group specialist. He teaches seniors classes, kickboxing, core fitness and more in addition to having been the director of group fitness programming for several Boston area facilities. He trained a 2005 Biggest Loser Contestant and is also a Triple-A Fitness and aerobics competition judge. Mel is skilled in sports conditioning for fitness enthusiasts of all ages and welcomes both beginners and experience exercisers in his classes.

LAUREN SHARIFI

Licensed Dietitian and Nutritionist
Lauren Sharifi received her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from the University of Connecticut and is currently working towards her Master’s in Public Health at Boston University. Lauren is a registered and licensed dietitian in Massachusetts with over six years of experience as a clinical dietitian. Lauren is passionate about improving others relationship with food to ultimately improve health and enjoyment of eating. She believes in the “everything in moderation approach” and works with clients to find balance by focusing on whole foods and mindful eating. Lauren also enjoys cooking and developing nutritious and delicious recipes, which she shares on her food and nutrition blog biteofhealthnutrition.com.

RITSON DESROSIERS

ISSA CPT
A Graduate Quincy College focoused in business, but found his passion in the gym. He became interested in body building and shaping his own physique which led him into personal training. Ritson has competed in bodybuilding competitions over the past 20 years and holds many trophies. He finds working with weight loss goal oriented clients to be his niche. Training clients of all ages and known for his patience, his attention to detail during the process is critical.

After graduating from grad school I was so unhappy with my appearance, I almost didn’t recognize myself. I knew I needed to exercise and eat healthy to become fit and healthy, but I didn’t know where or how to start. I didn’t want to set myself up for long term failure, (i.e. extreme dieting/post-diet weight gains/hurting myself at the gym), so I knew I needed someone with knowledge and expertise in this area to help me achieve my fitness goals. A quick google search for personal trainers directed me to Always Strong Fitness, and their client reviews/testimonials led me to their door! I met with Sean (personal trainer) and we talked about my fitness goals, a bit about body composition, and the personal training packages offered, etc. Not for one minute was there a sense of urgency/pushiness to sign up. The gym is clean, the atmosphere is comfortable (I’m a really shy person so if I’m comfortable you will be too!), the sessions are fun in the way that you’re always doing something different, but it is always challenging! I train with Sean and I can say he is very knowledgeable, professional, and patient; I’m sure the other trainers are as well. Aside from training, they also have nutritionists who helps create meal plans and teach you about portions/calories/nutrients etc. Your results will exceed your expectations and it will be worth every penny! Highly recommended.

Being a manager at an all women’s fitness studio, I needed an outlet and different atmosphere for my own workouts. Not only do I feel comfortable with Ross after going to the same college and in the same classes, but he makes it fun and pushes you out of your comfort zone. It’s that “love-hate relationship”! Ross is incredibly knowledgeable and is an expert in the training field – I would recommend him to anyone!
